Marriage registration in Georgia is not permitted in certain legal situations. First, if one of the parties is already legally married, a new marriage cannot be registered. Georgia recognizes only monogamous marriages, so the previous marriage must be officially terminated before applying again.
Marriage is also prohibited between close relatives, including parents and children, grandparents and grandchildren, siblings (including half-siblings), as well as between adoptive parents and adopted children.
Additionally, both individuals must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of making their own decisions. If a person has been declared legally incapacitated by a court, marriage registration will not be possible.
Before starting the process, it is important to ensure that no legal restrictions apply to your case.
